High-fructose corn syrup is 1) cheap and 2) sweet. The makers of processed food put it in their 'food' to make a profit. They are not interested in your health.
High-fructose corn syrup has been linked to liver damage, insulin resistance, copper deficiency (which causes all kinds of horrible diseases), weight gain and accelerated aging. It causes you to crave--guess what?--more high-fructose corn syrup.
Aaaugh!
So how do you get away from it?
Eat Real Food. Get the food before the food industry does. If it is in a fancy package, that's what you're paying for. You can't eat packaging.
A short list of sweets that do not contain HFCS:
- Dates
- Oranges
- Apples
- Pears
- Blueberries
- Raspberries
- Strawberries
- Raisins
- Dried cranberries
- Figs
- Bananas
How to make HFCS-free soda:
- Take a real juice (orange, grapefruit, grape, cranberry, pomegranite) and mix 50-50 with tonic water.
- Add ice and a squeeze of lime or lemon.
- If you happen to have to have some frozen blueberries in the freezer, throw them in.
This is hydrating and nutritious, as well as non-toxic. Cheers!
